Composing on Computers
What a great way to kick off our first session at ESF South Island School back after the summer! Students were put into small groups to work on composing music on their computers. Youth4Youth took the students to the music rooms on campus where they were able to connect their computers to a piano to create their own musical compositions. We taught the students about MIDI input and output as well as virtual instruments.
Students then learnt how to use GarageBand on their computers, a perfect way to complement the work they have been doing in their music lessons. They also explored Song Maker, a software in the Chrome Music Lab, by using a MIDI keyboard and singing notes into their mics. It was fantastic to listen to the students' musical compositions!
